ANIMARO – CRANE LAMP LAUNCH PARTY

Animaro – Crane Lamp Launch Party

Recently, Animaro had a crowdfunding launch party for their new Crane Lamp which I was fortunate enough to attend, it was great to learn more about this sustainable new product and the process behind the design, it also comes in two versions.

Animaro

London based furniture design studio Animaro was founded in 2015 by product designer and architect Matt Gilbert. The company is inspired by all things kinetic and enjoy working with mechanics and motion to create playful moving furniture. Their design process involves combining springs pin joints, bearings and anything that moves to create pieces of furniture that playfully express forces such as gravity and friction. They have exhibited furniture in London, Milan and Copenhagen and are now bringing their designs to market through the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter where they will be available for a limited period.

The Crane Lamp is a playful, movable light and the first of the Animaro designs to launch, it changes dramatically in height and shape, with a form inspired by the shape of a Crane bird extending its neck to catch prey. In today’s age of digital interfaces and hidden technology, the Crane Lamp celebrates mechanics and invites users to enjoy the simplicity of touch and motion. Available in two sizes, one to sit on the floor and another to sit on a desk. The lamp is available in solid walnut, sapele or oak. The joints are machined from brass and hold the cable in place as the lamp changes shape. Every Crane Lamp is assembled by hand in a workshop in East London.
