Lady Africa – Fashion Cities Africa
Irene Hin is a social entrepreneur and the founder of Lady Africa, a sophisticated African inspired fashion brand. Based in the Netherlands Irene offers a custom tailoring service where pieces are lovingly made by hand and clients also have the opportunity to order unique artisan jewelry along with their bespoke outfits. Often recognised and acknowledged for her eye-catching designs, Irene was selected to exhibit her creations alongside some other talented designers at an exhibition called Fashion Cities Africa.
The Fashion Cities Africa exhibition was recently launched at the Afrika Museum (Berg en Dal) and runs until March 1st 2020, this is following a very successful first leg of the exhibition at the Tropen Museum in Amsterdam. Across the continent of Africa a wide variety of fashion flourishes in various cities, this ranges from streetwear to couture and from experimental to more modest: wearers, makers and connoisseurs show their identity, personal taste and background. Often linked to the city in which they live……….the city that holds a mirror up to them.
Fashion Cities Africa showcases amazing fashion from Casablanca, Johannesburg, Lagos and Nairobi – through the eyes of 15 local creatives. Every design and every city has its own story to tell, showing there is an endless diverse, creative richness in craftsmanship and cultural heritage from the continent. In addition you will have the opportunity to view urban fashion scenes from the perspective of local stylists, shop owners, photographers and bloggers.
